The first show in 2004 at RAP - Inside: Continued Lessons features the new on-site installation piece by contemporary Malaysian Artist Tengku Sabri Tengku Ibrahim.
The Inside installation series beginning since 1997 dues with the "impressions and conceptions on personal and collective experiences." The installation piece of Inside: Continued Lessons at RAP will see the space transformed into the outer projection of Tengku Sabri's philosophical and poetic exploration of the issue of knowledge and lessons, in this occasion taking the "tree" as his main metaphor of the self.
Tengku Sabri has widely exhibited both locally and abroad. A participant at the Winds of Artists in Residence program at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan in 2000, he has also shown in Kassel, Germany in 1997, and the Rupa Malaysia Show in London 1998 and in Malaysia 2000. Besides his art production, as an art educator and writer, Tengku Sabri has contributed immensely as the editor of the art journal tANPA tAJUK, and through his texts discussing the issue of Malaysian Art.
The show opens on Saturday January 3rd and is followed by a dialogue session with the artist on 4pm Saturday January the 10th.
